Anton has been an athlete since he was 6 years old. First, basketball, then cross country and athletics (middle distance), leading to a running career. After college, still seeking an achievement he could be proud of, he competed in a duathlon and placed 12 out of 200+ competitors. He almost continued with endurance racing until he was persuaded to take up Olympic Weightlifting instead. Already familiar with the barbell, he tried out, and on the first day power clean and jerked 70 kg (at 63 kg body weight). The coach encouraged him to return and train regularly with the team. So he did.
Motivation & Passion
Anton is passionate about helping beginners and advanced weightlifters, and athletes from various backgrounds, learn the proper ways to lift the barbell and become better weightlifters. Anton uses sports psychology, as well as proven scientific methodologies and his experiences to help his athletes achieve more than they believe they are capable of. His mantra is that you must first-day in your mind that you can do something for it to become a reality. Anton believes that people fear Weightlifting because they do not understand Weightlifting. Weightlifting is one the safest forms of resistance training there is because of the focus on perfecting technique. He wants to show his students that they get major benefits like power, speed, strength, flexibility, and lean muscle mass from Weightlifting. Because of his love for helping people become stronger, Anton has dedicated his life to Weightlifting as both an athlete and a coach.
